Last Sunday Ryan encouraged us to focus on the real and to forget the ideal as we get set to make our mark in 2010. As we make our plans and resolutions for this year, he challenged us to consider if we have first stopped to ask God want he wants for us.
The reality is that being obedient to God and trying to follow His will for our life is hard work. It doesn't come naturally or easily. That seems to be the case with most things in life that we want and that is why we have to be deliberate and make a plan if we want to achieve them. Doing the same things over and over and expecting different results is nothing more than insanity.
So for 2010, I how about making a commitment to learn more about what God wants for you by spending regular time in the Bible? Have you ever read through the entire Bible? How about the New Testament? How about in 90 days? How about in 1 or even 3 years? King James not your style, have you tried the New Living Translation or how about The Message? Do you get confused by the order of events in the Old Testament, how about reading the Bible chronologically to help make sense out of it?
The team at LifeChurch.tv has recently made available over 20 customizable reading plans that you can try out. Not only can you choose the plan that is right for you, you can track your progress, share what God is teaching you with friends, create a personal journal as well as make your reading plan part of your daily life by keeping in sync between the online version and your web enabled mobile device. You can also add your daily reading to your calendar or your RSS reader - you choose how you like to incorporate it.
Start by getting an overview of how the plans work on YouVersion and then take that first step!
